Happy New Year! Last year, I found myself doing more traveling than I had anticipated in part due to taking some ambitious day trips across Texas and to other states. For 2024, I have plans to continue exploring the area where I live through my Monthly Adventures Series and pushing my limits with day trips to various locations. One thing I didn't get to do last year that was on my 2023 travel list was a road trip. Oh, and I also didn't make it to Key West or the Bahamas due to bad weather but I aim to make the attempt again in 2025.

Like last year, I'm going to preview some of the trips I have planned for 2024. This will help you know what posts to expect and when they will be published online. It can also be a way to put ideas in your head about where you may want to go this year if you don't already have solidified travel plans. Keep in mind that I also don't have all of the details for my 2024 trips finalized which is why I'm only previewing them. I will update this post with links to blog posts recapping each of these trips throughout the year as I get them published.

I have been to California too many times to count. However, I was really only going to the Bay Area which is not the same as Los Angeles and the Southern California region. With family in L.A. that I have yet to visit, it is time for my first trip to the City of Angels which will be in the weeks following the publishing of this 2024 preview post!

Road Trip Oklahoma City (previously Destination To Be Determined)

As I've written about previously, I love a good road trip! I haven't taken a road trip in some years and I have a desire to hit the road again. I still don't have a specific destination in mind, but I continue to consider a visit to Louisiana. It's an easy road trip to drive and I know my way around pretty well. You can't go wrong with good food, casinos, and a state with a rich history and strong family ties! I see this being a good trip for the spring or summer season, but it could be my next birthday trip if the timing works out.

Albuquerque Day Trip or Philadelphia Day Trip

While I did not intend for day trips to become a regular occurrence in my blog content in 2023, it ultimately did. In fact, it warranted a dedicated category on my website that you can easily navigate to from the home page. One place that has been on my day trip radar for a few months is Albuquerque, New Mexico. I haven't been there before and I really enjoy visiting desert climates. There is a rich history in New Mexico and sopapillas which I am very excited about exploring! If I find time to go, I would probably aim to take a trip in the fall. I have been to Philadelphia a couple of times for very brief visits, once when I was a small child and a second time in my senior of college just for a cheesesteak. I would like to go again to see how much I can pack into a single-day itinerary to take in more of the city. This would probably work best as a spring trip, but could be deferred to summer or early December. I could travel to only one or both of these locations and it will all depend on the best available transportation options to get there!

Presidential Library & Museum

So far, I have been to two presidential libraries and museums. I have a membership with the LBJ Library which gives me access to other presidential libraries. When I was I took my Day Trip to Dallas, I visited the George W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. I have a passport souvenir to collect stamps as I make my way across the nation to visit every library. I'm not sure which one I will go to at the time this post is originally published, but my goal is to visit at least one of the libraries I haven't been to yet. This would be ideal for trip this spring or in the fall.

Victoria and Vancouver, BC, Canada

Canada is one of my favorite places to visit, and I elaborated on this for the first time in my post about That Time I Lived in Canada. I have previously been to Victoria and Vancouver, but that was about 4-5 years before I ever started blogging. It was such a peaceful trip with so much that I still wanted to see and do when I left that I simply have to go back. Summer is the best time to go as far as weather is concerned, so I'm aiming for a summer trip to Canada if time is on my side to make this return trip I have dream of for years to come to fruition!

Looking to the Future

Per usual, my plans depend on my work schedule, but I will continue to find ways to squeeze in as many new experiences and trips into 2024 as possible. I am an ambitious person and sometimes my plans are more than what I can actually accomplish. Nonetheless, I will always try to get as much done as I can! Traveling is important to me and can't let one aspect of my life become so time consuming that I can't enjoy the other aspects.

My resolution last year was to make memories and keep the momentum from 2022 year going for Kimi's Travel Thoughts in 2023. For 2024, my resolution is to focus my efforts on traveling more to new places. Through a combination of longer vacations, short-term trips, and day trips, I think I can get this done. I'm so excited to share these experiences with you throughout the year! Do you have suggestions for anywhere else I should go or what I should do at these destinations?
