Just a few months after going to New York City, I found my way back to the east coast. After finishing up the school year, I went to camp and then to a church youth convention. When I was at camp my mom sent an email of a plane ticket confirmation. Surprise! We were going to Boston, Massachusetts and exploring colleges in the area before I began applications in the coming weeks.

We arrived just after Independence Day and stayed for 3 days in Boston's Back Bay area. We spent the first day in Boston getting settled in and doing some nearby exploring. The next day we took a trip to New Haven, Connecticut to visit Yale and returned to Boston later that evening via Amtrak. My mom and I spent the last day of our trip by waking up early to explore Boston some more and visit Harvard (which is in Cambridge, not Boston). We happily made our way around the city on a hop on/off tour bus and using the intricate underground transportation system. After a long 3 days, we caught a bus back to the airport and flew home! This is just a quick summary of the trip, but here's more details:

Hotel

Sheraton Boston Hotel (a little expensive, but great for comfort; we experienced great service)

Food

▪The Barking Crab: inspired to go after watching Man v. Food on the Travel Channel and from Disney's The Game Plan

▪Cod Squad Food Truck: seafood is caught that morning and served at lunch time

*Do keep in mind that it's perfectly fine to places that aren't as well known when you're hungry. There's plenty of great food in Boston. Legal Sea Foods is a very popular restaurant, but we went on a previous trip and chose other options this time around.

Tourist Activities

▪Yale Info Session

▪Harvard Info Session

▪Old Town Trolley Tours (my mom got the package deal that included a boat tour around Boston Harbor)

Transportation

▪Airplane (we flew Southwest Airlines on a good deal for last minute flights)

▪Public Metro Bus (the Silver Line goes directly from the airport to the hotel)

▪Taxi (needed a quick ride to dinner)

▪Mega Bus (which became Datco when our Mega Bus got stuck in traffic)

▪Amtrak (great for travel time and seeing the Atlantic Coast)

*My mom really wanted to use as many forms of tansportation as possible on this trip!

Overall, I had a great time on with my mom on our trip! If you are planning a trip to the Boston area, hopefully this post can be helpful. Here's some pictures from my Google Photos Collection in the link below:
